Animal Health & Management
Gain a sound understanding of issues surrounding animal health, disease, behaviour, welfare and the management of animal collections. Making use of our excellent practical facilities and links with Dartmoor Zoological Park and various veterinary practices across Cornwall and Devon, we can ensure that you have excellent access to hands-on experience and the benefit of up-to-date veterinary knowledge.
Aspects of animal health and management are studied through a range of inter-related modules, giving you a solid grounding in this specialist area. Study tours in Year 1 and Year 2 will allow you to further your knowledge and experiences both nationally and internationally. You will have amazing opportunities to develop your knowledge of health, welfare and husbandry, and to work with a wide range of species within our Animal Management Centre.
Rescue & Emergency Management
Foundation Degree & BSc(Hons) 3rd year
Developed in association with the civil resilience and emergency response sector, local authorities, emergency services and the voluntary sector, this programme suits those looking for a career in the emergency services or those looking to develop a career in the rescue and emergency management sector, in the UK and overseas.
We also offer a 1 year top up programme the BSc (Hons) Emergency Sector Management And Interoperability, which is unique and very distinctive in offering high level training in interoperability. In 2012 the Government formed the Joint Emergency Services Interoperability Programme (JESIP) to address the recommendations and findings from a number of major incident reports, which stressed the need for all the services involved in planning for and in responding to emergencies, to co-operate in a more effective manner. The development of interoperability is pivotal so that the emergency services can respond to the increasing challenges facing the modern world.
